Visited Carmel, California for the first time today: A Love Story.....
We took a trip to Santa Cruz this holiday weekend because I've heard so many good things about that city.
Well, because it was a 3-day holiday weekend, Santa Cruz, or at least the beach areas of Santa Cruz, were so congested that I just thought "Get Me Outa here!"
So slowly southward bound we went. Passing through Scotts Valley, Monterey, Soquel, and on to Pebble Beach.
The golf course in Pebble Beach is absolutely amazing and one of the most beautiful properties I've ever seen. They are getting ready for the U.S. Open in a couple of weeks, and Tiger Woods is scheduled to play.
After we were finished there, we continued South. And spent about an hour going through the famous 17-mile Drive.
And then we came into Carmel. Or as it's technically named - Carmel-By-The-Sea.
This town is so far, the most charming, well manicured beach city I've ever seen.
The shops and restaurants are out of a European storybook. It's a very woodsy city and contains some of the most prestigous real estate in the country.
We're staying at the most adorable Bed and Breakfast called the Briarwood Inn.
I have learned that Carmel is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the country. We're taking our little guys to the beach in the morning, which is off leash. And almost all of the restaurants have some type of patio area that you can dine while having your pets with you.
I'm already planning on when I'll be back in Carmel so that I can stay more than just one day.
I have totally fallen in love with this city, head-over-heals.
I have stayed in Carmel in a friends home on the 17 mile drive what an experience.

I was lucky to discover Carmel way back in the 1990's when I also visited San Francisco. Lovely and charming indeed!
When we lived in the San Francisco area we visited Carmel several times and really enjoyed. Your pics are great.

Carmel has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth, inhabited by the coolest people. It's unparalleled as far as location and views, and every where you turn is a photo op. Think I'll go back again real soon!

I had trouble even finding a dead flower anywhere!
I think it's the most meticulously maintained community I've seen to date.
And the people have a definite connection and sense of stewardship with the city.
I'm officially impressed.
