You know, as you get older there are many things that kind of suck.
You don't have the same physical agility as when you were younger, you lose hair where you want it to be, you get hair where you DON'T want it to be, you start getting wrinkles, and sometimes you can't remember what you had for lunch yesterday!
Fun, huh?
But there are definitely advantages to growing older. And I think the top of that list will always be WISDOM.
I'm sure every one of us has told ourselves "If only only knew then what I know now...."
OK, OK. So where am I going with this?
Well, where I'm going is the road to inner peace.
There have been many discussions lately regarding our economy, being selective about where you spend your money, trimming the fat, downsizing, etc., and how this economy is actually and opportunity to cleanse your life of those things that cause you unecessary stress, and focus on what the most important things are in life.
Hopefully this cleansing process will lead you to the realization that as long as you have your health, your family, your friends, and your belief system, THEN THAT'S ALL YOU NEED AND IF YOU KNOW THIS AND HAVE THESE THINGS, THEN YOU ARE ALREADY A RICH PERSON.
Don't let corporations who spend billions of dollars with the media getting in our face EVERY MINUTE of the day tell you that you're a loser if you are not making a certain amount of money, or are not attractive enough, thin enough, smart enough, this enough or that enough.
Because they can take their product or service and fold it four ways!!
I can honestly say that this post was written from the heart.
From me, to you - all the good peeps out there who get up every day and continue fighting the good fight.
And I'm so glad I did it, as you never know. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow thinking, "coulda, shoulda, woulda".
Stay strong.
In the biggest of all pictures, we're all on the same team regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
You have someone here who's got your back, in spirit.
As long as you're not going around hurting, killing, manipulating or oppressing other people, then you have my vote.
If you ever need to talk, complain, bitch, air your worries, fears, etc., you have my contact information.
I'll be there to tell you and show you that everything will be OK, and that anybody who doesn't think so needs to back the hell off!!
One of my all-time favorite singers is Whitney Houston. Here's a great excerpt from one of her songs:
"If tomorrow is judgement day
And I'm standin' on the front line
And the Lord asked me what I did with my life
I will say I spent it with you"
I'm glad I spent mine with all the peeps in my life.
Peace.

Boy did I need to read this one this morning! Thanks for helping me remember to look over my gratitude list Ralph. Sometimes I get to feeling that I've been Crazy Glued to the pity pot. :-)
Rob / Jeannie,
The hope and journey of getting to the end of that rainbow is the true gift.

Ralph,
Good post and a reminder to occasionally stop and smell the roses.
Ralph,
I was all riled up to start ranting about the snake oil vendors and how that tied in to cow pies or BS and then I got a little teary eyed at the end.. I love the words to that song.. what did I do with my life??? I spent it with you.
We get by in the Cosmic Cow Pie with a little help from our friends! Thanks again Ralph!
Tell me about it.
I find that Im the most productive when I have balance in my life.
