Los Angeles 411: Wildlife Learning Center, Sylmar
Nestled among fragrant foliage in a quaint, picturesque setting lays the Wildlife Learning Center, a sanctuary for over 50 species of wildlife where visitors can engage with animals up close. Unlike a zoo that can be spread out over a large expanse, The Wildlife Learning Center provides an intimate learning environment where children and adults can examine creatures face to face and through one of the center’s many programs, even touch them. Such an interactive and up close learning expedition offers a special experience sure to be cherished.
Experience a truly exotic birthday or special event with a wild animal party! Parties may be held at the center or brought to your home or other location. The Wildlife Learning Center offers several birthday party packages including: “Rainforest Romp”, “Wildlife Safari”, “Jr. Safari”, “Creepy Crawlies”, “Tortoise and The Hare”, “Animal Spotlight”, or “Celebrate at the Center”, which include hands-on interaction with the animals and depending on the package, may even provide pizza, party favors and juice.
Other features of the learning center’s offerings include: individualized animal experiences, private group tours, trainer talks, and outreach learning events such as school assembly shows. Among the many animals exhibited at many of the learning center offerings and events are: prairie dogs, armadillos, owls, sloths, foxes, alligators, porcupines, pythons, and bobcats.
Spending a delightful afternoon at this preserve is a terrific value at just $7; $6 for children 12 and under. Proceeds from admission as well as items purchased at the learning center’s online store (http://www.cafepress.com/theanimalguys), directly benefit the animals housed at the Wildlife Learning Center.
