"Los Angeles 411" - Late Night Thai Food in Hollywood, CA - Torung Restaurant

"Los Angeles 411" - Late Night Thai Food in Hollywood, CA - Torung Restaurant

One of my favorite Thai restaurants is Torung, in Hollywood, California.

Not only is the food fresh and tasty, but the prices are extremely reasonable.  And Torung opens at 5PM and stays open until 4AM!!  So if you're making it a late night in Hollywood, it's the perfect place.

There's nothing better than a nice, fresh piping hot pot of Thai soup delivered to your table in a flaming hotpot.

I think the most popular Thai dish is Pad Thai, made with rice noodles in a savory, slightly spicy sauce.

But one of my favorite dishes that is not very well known is Yum Woon Sen.  It is actually made with silver noodles made from mung beans.  This also means that there is no "starchy" carbohydrates to this type of noodle.  It's also called the "diet" noodle in many Asian cultures.  Yum Woon Sen is a splash of flavor in your mouth with lemon juce, lime juice, chile, cilantro, and your favorite kind of meat or vegetable (I prefer the one with fried tofu).

Anyway, if you're every in Hollywood in the wee hours doing some sight seeing, look up Torung, and.......enjoy!

One thing to note:  it is one of the few restaurants that accepts only cash.  So make sure you've got some before getting the bill!

It is located at 5657 Hollywood Boulevard, in Hollywood, CA.

I just made a $25 donation to help an African village through SaveAfricaNow.org - Pay It Forward

I just made a $25 donation to help an African village through SaveAfricaNow.org - Pay It Forward

I met this organization and it's founders personally at the GoGreenExpo in Los Angeles earlier this year.

They are great bunch of people and I truly admire their dedication to help those of our brothers and sisters on the African continent.

If you have any disposable income that you can share, even just a few bucks, this is hands-down a worthy and fulfilling cause.

OMG.  This is such an emotional thing for me that believe it or not, after I make my donation I have to put it out of my head because my desire to "save the world" will eat away at me and I know how impoverished the continent is, how many adults suffer from diseases merely from lack of ANY healthcare, what kind of atrocities happen there from political unrest, and the worst are children that are orphaned and/or stricken with AIDS in Africa.

It just breaks my heart and no matter how hard I try, and can't help from getting all teared up.

So how I cope is to donate what I can and find comfort in knowing although I can't save the world single-handedly, but I can be part of a collaborative effort.

I know it's a very rough time for us right now in our economy, but if you really think about how rough those in Africa have it, it makes sense to donate a few bucks.

Much love and positive energy,

Ralph
