I made another $25 micro loan to a great little group in Guatemala - Las Gardenas Group
For those of you who do not know, Kiva.org is an amazing site where you make a micro loan of $25 along with other people on the site to fund a startup loan to people in typically impoverished countries to help them start a small business, or expand an existing one.
I've made dozens of micro loans over the past few years, and they've all been repaid. I then lend out the money again and again!
Fidelia is 55 years old and married. She has 6 children, 4 of whom are in school. She dedicates herself to her domestic chores, and she also provides midwife services, for which she needs to buy medicines to serve her patients. She has 10 years of experience with this work. Her husband works as a merchant.
She decided to organize a group so that she could request a loan that would allow her to buy medicines to serve her clients, since she hopes to care for more women and have what she needs to do so. The other members of the group work in agricultural production, healing with natural medicines, or commerce.
