A Personal Thank You On Memorial Day

A Personal Thank You On Memorial Day

As I sit here writing my blogs in the comfort of my own home with my partner and two happy dogs thinking about where we'd like to travel today,  I want to write  a personal Thank you note.

I want to thank those men and women currently and in the past who have served in our country's military.

Both those serving now, and those who have given their lives.

Thank you.

Thank you for putting your life on the line, so that I have the continued freedoms that I enjoy.

Thank you for serving based on the principles of freedom and democracy, even when you don't agree with the politics that have placed you there.

Thank you to those men and women who have served who are of same-sex orientation for not only serving, but having to serve with the added undue stress of "don't-ask-don't-tell".

Thank you to those who have served and  helped a citizen while you are in their country for letting them know what the American PEOPLE are all about, and not necessarily the American POLITICS.

Thank you to all the mothers, fathers, husbands and wives who have supported your family members decision to serve and defend our liberties that we enjoy every day.

I honestly don't know how to thank you as much as I mean it, other than to let you know you'll always be in my thoughts, hopes and prayers.

Thank you Dad for serving your country and for giving me the values that I cherish, even though we didn't quite see eye to eye on everything.  I still have your Ping putter that you gave me that everyone is amazed with on the golf course.  I'll see you, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Josie,  and Aunt Mary again someday when it's my time.

Thank you so much
