2010 – The Year of Wisdom...........
It’s funny.
Growing older definitely has its disadvantages as we’re all aware.
But one of the biggest advantages we gain is something you cannot physically see or touch.
It can’t be bought in a tube or bottle.
It can’t be obtained from a pill, injection, or from an operation.
It can’t be inherited or willed from a family member.
It can’t be given to you with a red ribbon in a box or gift bag.
Wisdom is something that you can only obtain with the price of time.
In 2010, I learned the most about myself and others around me. It has been the most enlightening year of my life. I’ve learned not only how to deal with negative energy, but how to get and stay on the road to your dreams and goals.
I’ve truly learned that you can do ANYTHING once you have the right mindset. And I don’t mean that from a “trivial” or cliché kind of way. I’ve learned that once you learn how to buffer out negative energy and keep yourself 100% positive, have your specific goal, and NEVER give up, that it’s really just a matter of time at that point before get to your happy place.
I’ve seen and studied the kind of people who have truly gone from nothing to achieving such admirable goals, and I’ve analyzed the type of people they are.
They all have the same traits and recipe: Know what you want, be 100% positive about it at all times, and relentlessly never give up having the confidence and vision that you’re going to get there.
As a result of this enlightenment and empowerment, I’ve come to a decision about something that I’ve been thinking about for many years, but did not have the confidence to pursue, until now.
I’ve always thought about being an attorney. I suppose it’s mostly due to my strange desire to not only “save the world”, but to be in a position to help those who have been a victim of some kind.
Well, after recognizing that there are really no obstacles to doing this other than by own doubts, I’ve been able to overcome that and am very proud to say that I start law school in April!
I’ll need as much support from my friends as possible as I do not have the luxury of being able to quit work while I’m attending (and paying for, oy vey!) school, so hit me up once in a while!
This is probably one of the most exciting decisions I've made in my life.
As of now, I feel that I would want to practice in civil law and real estate law. It’s going to be a very rough 4 years, but I feel pretty unstoppable at this point, and that will be enough to get me through.
Another subject matter I’ve learned about in a deeper sense is addictions. I’ve learned that we ALL have addictions. And these addictions span a very wide spectrum from addictive behaviors, to addictive business practices, and all the way over to the other side of the spectrum to substance addictions.
Many of these addictions are injected into our environment by everything from manipulative individuals to manipulative organizations to manipulative corporations.
They learn how to play on our human emotions, desires, fears in order to get us to comply with the addictive behavior that creates some type of gain for them.
My advice to all of my friends, family and acquaintances is: Learn how to recognize these addictions and attempts to lure you into addictive behavior. Once you have the ability to do this, you have the ability and empowerment to remove it and/or not allow it into your environment. This, in turn, will allow you to stay the TRUE, POSITIVE person that you are in order to reach your goals.
We ALL have this inherent capability as humans. The only thing that prohibits that is “buying into” manipulation that affects us and keeps us in an idle or negative state.
I’m still working on a couple of my addictions, but for the most part I’ve made huge strides and feeling really great about the momentum and pace I’ve picked up!
2010 has also been a year of cleansing.
Just about everyone has had to learn how to downsize due to our economy going through a shift.
What I’ve learned is that this process is not a negative one. In fact, it is a positive one. At some point, we find ourselves losing track of the most important things in life.
2010 has been a wonderful “cleansing” process for me. It’s given me the capability to not only learn the amazing value of being able to live a lower-stress, “debit” kind of lifestyle as opposed to a higher-stress “credit” lifestyle, but it has also given me the ability to cleanse my life from clutter and false pretenses.
That has been SUCH a gift for me! You have no idea!
In our environment here in America, we sometimes tend to view our worthiness or sense of accomplishment more by tangible goods and things.
What kind of car do you drive?
What kind of house do you have?
What city do you live in?
What kind of clothes do you wear?
But let me ask you this: What does it mean to be rich? Is it a bad thing to want to be rich?
I don’t think so.
I think it’s a normal thing to want to be rich.
But the important thing is to know what “rich” means.
Does it mean rich in the sense that you have lots of tangible things?
I don’t think so.
My definition of “rich” is:
How many relationships you have built that are true?
How plugged in you are to your community, and your environment?
How many friends do you have?
How much respect do you have among your peers?
How much love do you give and receive to/from your family and friends?
I definitely want to be rich! But the rich individuals I admire most are those that tend to have the above listed items.
Having those would truly make me “feel” rich. Having the tangible things are nice, but those are easily disposable and are always subject to the elements of life. They come and go VERY easily.
Be proud of who you are by the company you keep. By the relationships you’ve built and nourished.
When I meet people and see people that have many relationships they’ve had with others for decades, that tells me a lot about that person. It tells me they have the golden attributes of wisdom, patience, humor, and the vision to see things as they truly are. It tells me that they don't toss things aside very easily and don't walk away from things easily simply because they don't have an "easy button".
How you PERCEIVE things is ultimately your key that opens the door to your future and your goals.
If you perceive something to be negative, or that it has had a negative effect on you, then it most certainly is.
There is a quote that I really love that I re-quote to people all the time:
“Failure is only the opportunity to more intelligently begin again.” - Henry Ford
I keep it on a wall in front of my home office desk and see it every day. But more importantly is now I truly believe it.
If you can clearly feel the inner meaning of this, then you have tapped into your own sense of being unstoppable.
I’m putting this out there to you for this year:
If you feel that you’re stuck, if you feel that things are just not happening for you, or if you just feel like you need to talk to someone who will listen to what means most to you, even if you’ve never met me before in your life:
Call me.
Email me.
Write me.
Whichever you like.
I’m putting myself out there to you.
Hey, I’m definitely not going to say that I’m ANYWHERE near perfect!
What I AM saying is that I value friendships, and if you ever need to talk, then just give me a shout.
We can get through almost anything together………………
Please take the most cherished thing that I have learned that I am offering to you, and use it to make 2011 the best year you possibly can!!
