STOP sending me free address labels with the nickel or dime pasted inside!!

I'm getting more and more of the soliciations from charitable organizations that have the pre-printed address labels inside, with a note saying "how can 5 cents save a child's life?"

I am a huge advocate of donating to charitable organizations.  I donate to MANY organizations constantly, at least a dozen or more constantly throughout the year.

But it really upsets me when they send me a nickel stating how 5 cents can save a child's life.

Then why are you sending me 5 cents?!!!!

Use it towards the fund to actually go to the children!!!

Don't use it as a method of guilt or guilt-extortion!!!

That's really low to do in the name of saving children!!!

This form of marketing should be stopped.  It's absolutely awful, and makes NO sense whatsoever to me.

Every industry needs to deal with our system of free trade and capitalism - and I mean EVERYBODY

We as realtors have to deal with being as efficient as possible every day.  We pay our dues, we pay our commission split to our broker, we pay our E&O insurance, we pay our marketing dollars, and we deal every day with being as competitive as possible so that our consumers (our clients) will choose us for our business.

We have to be as competitve as possible to get a listing and as competitive as possible to keep our paychecks coming in.

Do you agree with me on this one?

So why is it that the pharmacuetical and health care industry doesn't have to do the same?  Why is it that we continue to harbor them from having to be competitive?  Why do we have to continue being competiive and they do not?

Do you not agree, regardless of whether you have an A+ health care plan or have no health care plan at all, that they health care industry be as subject to free trade and capitalism as we do?

If you agree with me on that, then is that not what our present health care reform is all about?

Keeping that industry as subject to competition as the rest of us?

Allowing more options to the public in order to maintain the American way of a competitive market?

www.Kiva.org - A VERY cool site to help many people around the globe

I was turned on to Kiva.org about 2 years ago.

It is a very innovative site that lends people in underdeveloped countries around the world money to start small businesses.

You browse the website for those people who are looking for loans and read up on their small business and a little on their background.

The cool part is you cannot lend less than or more than $25.00 to each entrepreneur.

After the loan is fully funded by, maybe 30 or 40 donors online, then the money is distributed by different regulated financial organizations around the globe in each particular region to the small business entrepreneur.

They then start paying the money back each month and the payback amount is divided equally between the donors and it is credited back to your online account!!

You use your credit card to fund your account, and YOU choose whom to lend your $25.00 to.

I've made 9 loans so far, and they've all been paid back on time.  So now I'm going to re-lend my $177.50 back out again to those who are in need.

I really like this site because you are lending money and seeing the progress of the person you are helping to be independent and enterprising.

It is a VERY cool organization and very well run.

Give it a try.  You'll be glad you did.

Just a reminder: You can text "Haiti" to 90999 on your phone to donate $10 to Red Cross

This is a fast and easy way to help the millions of people in Haiti who have been devastated by the earthquake.

All you need to do is text "Haiti"  to the number 90999 on your phone to donate $10.  It will be deducted from your phone bill.

It is legitimate.  I did it myself and took just a few seconds.  It even sends you back a confirmation message for you to verify before confiming the donation.

It is set up by our State Department.

I saw the movie "Avatar" this week........

I saw the movie "Avatar" on New Years Eve.

I really enjoyed it.  Very cool.

The graphics are amazing.

The part about this movie that hit me the most is the analogy between present day current events and the storyline of the film.

It illustrates how if one culture wants to take something from another culture, the machivellian way to do it is to make an enemy out of them.  (sound familiar - i.e. mid east countries and oil?)

And what would a movie about aliens be without Sigourney Weaver?!!  She was great.

And the young actor who played the lead as the main Avatar character was really good.

If you are an aficianado about culture / people from different cultures, you will love this film.

I can tell from the way the film ended that there definitely will be an Avatar 2.

I definitely give this movie a solid "10"

So I saw the movie "Nine" this weekend......

So am I the only person who is a little dissappointed after seeing this movie?

It was kind of cool seeing some of the numbers.  I thought Penelope Cruz actually did a pretty good job with her number even though she's not a singer.  And her acting was excellent in this film.

Daniel Day Lewis was absolutely amazing.

But the storyline seemed to drag quite a bit throughout the film.  You'd see a number and then, boom.  It would start dragging on again.

Kate Hudson was great and her number was alot of fun.  I loved Sophia Loren (I always have).

Nicole Kidman was sort of OK.  Judy Densch was impeccable, as always.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this film a 7 at best due to the flavorless storyline.
