5 Things I am Most Thankful for that impact my business

5 Things I am Most Thankful for that impact my business

1 - My Broker and Managers

Way back when I first obtained my license, I was allowed to come on board Prudential John Aaroe (now Berkshire Hathaway).  I was just a new licensee, and it was due to my partner Richard Ruggaber and my then manager Michael Williamson who allowed me to become an agent at one of the most well-respected brokeragses in the area.  I went through the mentor program there and that was one of the best things that could have happened to me as an agent.  It was in those years that I also met John Aaroe himself, and ever since then I've been a fan of John's.  He's a Good Man, Charlie Brown.  Smart, funny, caring and at the same time knows the real estate industry like the back of his hand.  When John migrated away from the then Prudential association into his independent brokerage, Richard and I moved with him into the flagship Sherman Oaks, CA office.  Michael Williamson was a huge part of that.  Love Michael.  Knows the business better than almost anyone, and genuinely cares about people.  And then of course, when our current branch manager Susan Jacobs came along to replace Michael as he became regional manager, the relationship I've developed with Susan is extremely special and valuable to me.  I can't think of a better combination of intelligent, supportive, funny that a manager can be.  I am so thankful to all of these individuals for helping to make me the real estate professional I am today.

2 - All of the Many Years I spent working in the Information Technology Industry

I spent decades in the IT industry on just about all side of the work force:  hardware sales, software sales, administration, accounting, etc.  I worked for many different companies.  I then opened my own retail business for many years for both hardware and software.  From there I migrated over to web design for many years until I obtained my real estate license and transitioned from there.  I value those years in the IT industry SO much because it gave me the competitive edge to help in the degree of success we've had and still have today.

3 - Clients and Friends

I have the BEST client base ever.  Just about all of them are friends now, which is the part I love the most about my job.  With the majority of my clients, we have the type of relationship where we can just be ourselves - GENUINELY.  I mean c'mon - if you can tell fart jokes with your clients, then you know it doesn't get any better than that!  LOL!  I love the fact that my clients TRUST me completely.  It's one of the reasons that allows me to get up in the morning and face another day.  Their trust makes me want to work harder, smarter and longer.  As a person, it reminds me that I'm here on this planet to serve in MANY ways as a human being.  And to my many friends who have, and continue to, refer me to their friends and family.  THANK YOU for trusting me with your relationships.

4 - My Peers

I can't tell you how many fellow agents, brokers, mortgage professionals, title professionals, escrow professionals, inspectors, appraisers, etc. that I have become friends with over the years.  Some of the best relationships I have are with these peers.  We help each other get through the best and worst of times.  Especially my fellow agents.  As you all know, it's never easy, but having the support of your peers makes all the difference in the world.  A special thanks to Sylvia Burton and her partner Ellie Kinnamon for crossing our life paths and being part of our new venture in Maui.  We are looking forward to some great years ahead with you!  I do have to make a special mention of Kerrie LaGuardia.  It was due to her kindness that I'm here on the 'Rain.  Kerrie is such a special person.  She made me feel welcome on so many levels and I will be indebted to her forever for that.

5 - Lastly, and Mostly, my amazing partner Richard Ruggaber

I don't even know where to begin.  If it were not for him I would not even be here right now.  Richard was my Mentor when I was first licensed.  I thank God that he was the one who mentored me.  What can I say?  He's Canadian!!  I admire and respect his ethics, his knowledge, his sense of fairness, his love of people, and his basic appreciation of life.  I've learned so much from him.  I feel as if I were just a crude, insensitive, clueless Italian boy before I met him.  He taught me respect.  He taught me kindness.  He gave me a chance when I needed one.  He taught me diligence.  And for those of you who don't know, YES, this is how we met and we are now life partners as well.  Thank you, Richard, for being born.  Love you.
